This holiday season marks the end of my first year as a full-time wedding and portrait photographer. It’s been quite the ride, full of travel, adventure and new friendships. I can’t thank my friends, family and clients enough for believing in me. For making my business a success story. For allowing me to live the life that I want to live, and make the photos that I want to make.
To know that you all support my vision and want to share the way I see the world, well, it’s been the biggest encouragement to keep going, even when I fail to believe in myself.
I’d like to say this whole journey has been a dream come true, but I honestly never even imagined I’d get to a place like this. The idea seemed so far-fetched that I didn’t consider it as a possibility until a year-and-a-half ago. It’s been amazing to watch the year all unravel with all its twists and turns.
And yet, still I’ve witnessed new beginnings — projects and ideas and collaborations that won’t fully unfold until next year, when I’m back here writing this post again for 2013.
But enough about that. That’s a year that hasn’t even happened yet. These next few posts are for 2012, the year that I realized I can do this, and the people that helped me do it.
The love I got to soak up, and the stories I got to tell.
The photos that we made. Together.
Thank you.
Huge and endless thanks to all the wonderful second-shooters I worked with this year. May we get the chance to re-live our memories, and make new ones, come next year.
[…] Two years can seem like a very long time. It’s how long I worked at my grueling day job after we moved to Portland, before I quit to become a Full Time Adventurer. Every one of those days seemed to pass at a slower crawl than the last. And yet, it’s also been two years now since I plunged into the deep end and it still feels like it’s all flown by just as crazy fast as it did last year. […]
